GEWURZTRAMINER MURI - GRIES 2023 DESCRIPTION

Through its typical aromatic nature, the Gewurztraminer from the Muri - Gries convent winery is able to delight and satisfy the taster's senses. This grape variety, recognizable for the characteristic intense pink color of the clusters, belongs to the category of aromatic varieties, a group that includes cultivars characterized by very fragrant berries, endowed with peculiar and highly recognizable aromas that will then pass directly from the grape to the finished wine. In the case of Gewurztraminer, these aromas can be traced back to tropical fruits like lychee and flowers like rose petals. Often vinified in a medium-sweet or sweet version, the tradition in Alto Adige instead calls for the production of Gewurztraminers that are generally dry.

Muri - Gries Gewurztraminer is an expression of the homonymous pink berry variety cultivated in the areas of Appiano, Caldaro, and Bolzano on limestone and clayey soils, located at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. After the harvest, the grapes are vinified in white through gentle pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 19°C. The wine then remains in stainless steel to mature for a few months until bottling, which precedes its final release to the market.

The Gewurztraminer from Muri - Gries has a brilliant golden yellow hue. Intense aromatic fragrances of flowers, ripe fruit, cloves, and exotic fruits emerge on the nose, along with a slight smoky note. The palate is full and enveloping, with excellent body and structure, accompanied by a soft aromatic sensation leading to a fine finish. In general, Gewurztraminer is one of the most classic pairings with oriental cuisine, especially with spicy Thai dishes.
