GEWURZTRAMINER 'NUSSBAUMER' TRAMIN 2022 DESCRIPTION

Gewürztraminer "Nussbaumer" is one of the most prestigious labels from the South Tyrolean winery Tramin. The aromatic grape variety, which originated in central Europe from a spontaneous mutation of Traminer or Savagnin Blanc, has found a second home in the Tramin area, where it expresses itself with a particular richness of scents and aromas. The label is produced in a thousand bottles, with a selection of particularly rich and ripe grapes. The low yields favour a remarkable aromatic concentration, which gives an extraordinary complexity and taste persistence. It is a white wine with a great personality, which goes very well with spicy dishes of Indian or Asian cuisine.

"Nussbaumer" is a Gewürztraminer made in one of South Tyrol's most famous cooperative wineries. Founded in the late 19th century, Tramin operates about 260 hectares of vineyards, divided into small plots located in the most vocated areas of the Tramin area. The Gewürztraminer grapes come from the vineyards of the Nussbaumer farm, which is located in the Sella locality, at an altitude between 350 and 550 meters above sea level with south-facing, southeastern exposure. The climate, which is very cool and windy, is characterized by considerable temperature changes, which favour the development of very intense aromas. The vines are between 10 and 40 years old and are grown on moraine soils composed of limestone gravel and clay, which insist on a substrate of porphyry rocks. The grapes are hand-picked in late October, and after a short cold maceration, they are soft-pressed. The must bloom ferments in stainless steel vats at a temperature of 18°C, then matures in steel tanks on the fine lees until August and is aged in bottles for 3 months before release for sale.

The white Gewürztraminer "Nussbaumer" from Tramin has established itself over the years as one of the most famous wines of Alto Adige, an essential reference point for all fans of this fascinating aromatic grape variety. In the glass, it is deep yellow in colour with luminous golden highlights. Rich and ample, it gives an intoxicating palette of aromas reminiscent of rose petals, geranium, lily, notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, soft spices, the aromas of lychee, passion fruit, mango, ripe yellow fruit, sensations of citrus peel and ginger. The sip is rich and enveloping, with complex, intense and harmonious aromas accompanying a balanced, soft and very persistent finish. Gewürztraminer at its most aromatic.
