Gewurztraminer ‘Puntay’ Erste+Neue is an aromatic, enveloping white wine that comes to life on the hilly terrain of South Tyrol. It is obtained following a slightly late harvest and an ageing period of at least six months on fine lees in stainless steel. The result is an intense, floral, exotic and slightly spicy Gewurztraminer with hints of lychee, rose petals and cinnamon. Goes well with oriental dishes and tasty fish starters

The Gewurztraminer Erste+Neue ‘Puntay’ is a South Tyrolean label that faithfully expresses the full and round character of this aromatic variety widespread in the Alpine territory of Alto Adige. The ‘Puntay’ selection represents the premium line of the Erste+Neue estate, including white and red wines crafted from a selection of grapes from the best-owned vineyards. To enhance the superior quality of the raw material, the grapes are processed through a delicate and non-invasive winemaking approach aimed at accentuating the personality of each grape variety, including this Gewurztraminer, a relatively new introduction having been produced for the first time with the 2021 vintage.
The Erste+Neue Gewurztraminer ‘Puntay’ is made exclusively from grapes of the same pink-skinned variety grown on south-facing hillside soils. The berries benefit from significant daily temperature variations, and harvesting is carried out slightly late to promote a richer concentration of sugars in the grapes. In the cellar, the grapes are white-pressed through gentle pressing, followed by alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks, the same type of containers where the wine matures on fine lees for at least 6 months before final bottling.
The Gewurztraminer ‘Puntay’ from the Erste+Neue winery has a brilliant golden yellow hue. On the nose, intense aromatic aromas of lychee, passion fruit, rose petals, cinnamon, and white pepper emerge. The palate is full, rich, and full-bodied, well-supported by excellent freshness that accompanies the soft and intense tasting finish, characterized by sweet aromatic notes reminiscent of the olfactory sensations.
