Gin 'Double Orange' Etsu

The Etsu 'Double Orange' Gin is a delightful Japanese gin with deep citrusy aromas, crafted using artisanal methods by the Akita distillery. This distillery is located in the northern part of Honshu Island, the largest of the four main islands of the Japanese archipelago. Akita's gin recipes make use of pure water from springs in the nearby Ou mountains. Additionally, the distillery often employs local botanicals, imparting a highly territorial character to their gins.

The botanicals used in the production process of Etsu 'Double Orange' Gin from Akita distillery include bitter orange peel, coriander seeds, juniper berries, licorice root, and angelica root. What distinguishes this gin is the prolonged maceration process the botanicals undergo, macerated for 7 days in a solution of alcohol and cane sugar. After this period, the botanicals are separated from the alcohol, which is diluted before undergoing distillation through a copper still. Subsequently, the distilled spirit is further diluted with pure water from the Ou mountain springs. Finally, before bottling, the gin undergoes filtration through a mesh filter to remove impurities, without resorting to cold filtrations that could compromise its organoleptic properties.

Etsu 'Double Orange' Gin has a transparent and crystalline appearance. The aromatic profile opens with intense scents of bitter orange and lemon zest, later accompanied by subtle peppery hints. On the palate, it is very fresh, almost sharp, with citrusy notes that persist beautifully on the finish.
