GRECHETTO ANTONELLI SAN MARCO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Antonelli San Marco winery's Grechetto is made entirely from this white grape variety which has become the most common to be grown and processed in Umbria. We are in the middle of the Montefalco area and the historic winery, for several years now, has undertaken a working method whose main objective is to bring back into the bottle only the characters of the territory and the grape variety. Delicate extractions, together with a moderate use of wood and as a backdrop the principles of organic farming, allow one to enjoy in the glass a white wine with a pleasantly fruity and soft character.

Antonelli San Marco Grechetto begins its history in the third week of September with harvesting done exclusively by hand. Taken to the cellar these clusters are softly pressed and then fermentation is awaited inside steel tanks at a temperature of 18°C. The process is concluded by an aging in tank in contact with the fermentation lees for the duration of about three months, a period similar to the rest that the wine will spend in the bottle before being put on the market.

Antonelli San Marco Grechetto colors the glass with a bold straw yellow, an intensity that is then confirmed by the olfactory profile. Pineapple and citrus notes act as a contour to scents that bring the mind back to almond and hawthorn, protagonists within a persuasive mineral context. Taken to the mouth, one is immediately struck by a sharp but never tiring sapidity capable of making the sip clean but still enveloping and of good persistence. This interpretation of Grechetto is ideal when paired with dishes with good intensity of flavor such as rustic cakes or legume and cereal soups, it can also be the proud protagonist of an aperitif with cold cuts and fresh cheeses.
