NIZZA 'I CIPRESSI' MICHELE CHIARLO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Nizza "I Cipressi" by Michele Chiarlo is a Piedmontese red wine that strikes you from the very first moments for its elegance, conveyed to the nose and palate with an excellent clarity of aromas and flavours. This is a bottle based on Barbera, an important variety in the ampelographic panorama offered by Piedmont, which, after vinification, undergoes a double ageing process, first in wood and then in glass, to increase its expressiveness and incisiveness. A label that is very pleasant to drink, and that goes well with different types of dishes and recipes.

This "I Cipressi" Nizza Michele Chiarlo is made from 100% Barbera grapes, a variety that is present in several areas within the Piedmontese terroir. The vines of this variety are cultivated by the Michele Chiarlo winery team in vineyards situated at an altitude between 230 and 280 metres above sea level, facing south-east and south-west. The terroir is characterised by the so-called 'sabbie astiane', Asti's sands, rich in clayey-calcareous marl. The grapes, after the harvest, ferment alcoholically in steel, macerating for 10-12 days. This is followed by the ageing phase, carried out first for 12 months in large casks, and then, after bottling, for a further 6 months in glass.

Michele Chiarlo's Nizza red wine "I Cipressi" reveals itself to the eye with a compact and deep colour, reminiscent of ruby red. The range of aromas that develops on the nose is neat and clean, and suggests notes of tobacco, red fruit and aromas that tend towards the spicy. On the palate, it is full-bodied, full-bodied, with a sip marked by a pleasant fresh vein, which, on the finish, veers towards a slightly mineral taste. A bottle of undoubtedly excellent level, as witnessed by the recent scores awarded to it by various Italian and international guides.
