"Illivio" by Livio Felluga is an intense and rich wine that perfectly expresses the historical vocation of the Colli Orientali del Friuli in producing great whites. It comes from a blend of white grapes of French origin, traditionally grown in the area, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay, to which is added a small percentage of the indigenous Picolit grape. It is a rich, dense and complex wine, expressing mature fruity aromas, soft tropical notes, subtle spiciness and a crisp, characteristic fresh, mineral vein. The ample and persistent sip makes it a particularly pleasant and satisfying drink.
The wine "Illivio" bears on its label the name of one of the great protagonists of Friulian wine. Livio Felluga began cultivating vineyards in Rosazzo, one of the most picturesque places in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. His labels, with ancient maps, soon became world famous and a symbol of quality. He was one of the architects of the renaissance of Friulano wine, which, thanks in part to his passion and commitment, has become known as one of the best excellences of our peninsula. Although he also made labels from single varietals, he was always linked to the Friulian custom of producing white wines from blends. The Illivio label perfectly expresses this choice and highlights the extraordinary complementarity of the territory's varieties to make great wines.
The white "Illivio," produced by Livio Felluga's Friuli winery, is a classic Colli Orientali blend. The oldest tradition in the region was based on the production of blends of white grapes, often grown promiscuously within the same vineyard. After the grapes have been softly pressed, the classic white wine-making process is carried out. The wine then matures for about 10 months on the lees in small French oak barrels. The colour is a luminous light yellow. The bouquet opens on notes of ripe fruit, hints of tropical fruit, floral nuances and spicy memories. The sip is rich and intense, with dense and soft fruit, anticipating a harmonious finish characterized by freshness and savoriness.
