'K-LYS' CLOS TROTELIGOTTE 2019 DESCRIPTION

Clos Troteligotte's 'K-Lys' takes the form of a bottle of authentic typicity, made in the French wine-growing region of Sud Ouest. This area is populated by many different varieties, processed in a heterogeneous style that varies according to the area in question. 'K-Lys' comes from Cahors, a historic territory where viticulture was introduced as early as Ancient Roman times and later established itself with the English, who gave the name "black wine" to the wine produced here. Today, the wines of Cahors are based on the Malbec grape variety, locally called Auxerrois or Côt, to which a maximum of 30 percent Merlot and/or Tannat may be added.

Clos Troteligotte 'K-Lys' Cahors consists of only Malbec grapes from a micro-parcel selection of vines grown in accordance with the principles of certified organic and biodynamic agriculture. The vines are about 30 years old and are rooted on limestone-clay soils. When the clusters reach maturity, manual harvesting is carried out, followed by alcoholic fermentation conducted exclusively with indigenous yeasts and accompanied by a long maceration on the skins, using gentle extraction techniques. Malolactic fermentation also occurs spontaneously, and the wine then ages for 24 months on fine lees in large 30-hectoliter oak barrels, followed by an additional 2 years of aging in cement tanks. No sulfites are added during the winemaking process.

Cahors Clos Troteligotte 'K-Lys' Malbec is deep ruby red in color. Rich and complex aromas defined by intense hints of ripe red-fleshed fruit, spices and fine woods. In the mouth it is full-bodied and balanced, soft and broad, with a good freshness that anticipates the long fruity and spicy finish.
