Kalterersee 'Keil' Manincor 2023

Manincor's Kalterersee 'Keil' comes from 100-year-old Schiava vines, cultivated in a privileged terroir with southern exposure and lake view, among the warmest in South Tyrol. Spontaneous fermentation in wood and five months of ageing in oak give the wine a deep character. The result is a brilliant ruby red, with hints of cherry and toasted almond, ideal with speck dumplings, white meats and roasts. An authentic wine, with full respect for nature

KALTERERSEE 'KEIL' MANINCOR 2023 DESCRIPTION

The South Tyrolean biodynamic winery Manincor presents the Kalterersee 'Keil', a red wine characterised by the distinctive aromas of cherry and toasted almond typical of the grape variety of origin: Schiava. The production philosophy embraced by the winery, now led by Count Michael-Goëss Enzeberg, is based as much on respect for the environment as on the pursuit of the highest possible quality, cornerstones that the Enzenberg family has adopted in vineyard cultivation for many generations. It was Michael-Goëss himself, in 1991, who took over the estate from his uncle, which until then had been dedicated to selling grapes to the important local cooperatives. As for 'der Keil', the grapes destined for this label come from the vineyard of the same name, known since the 17th century for its high quality.

The Kalterersee Manincor 'der Keil' is a 100% Schiava from 100-year-old vines planted in the 'der Keil' vineyard, located at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level with full southern exposure. The vines are grown organically and biodynamically using the traditional pergola system on lime, clay and sandy soils in one of the warmest climates in the whole of South Tyrol. After harvesting, which is carried out entirely by hand, the grapes are vinified red through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats in contact with the skins and subsequent complete malolactic fermentation. This is followed by ageing for 5 months in oak barrels in contact with the yeasts before final bottling.

The colour of Manincor's Kalterersee 'der Keil' is a brilliant ruby red. The olfactory mosaic is composed of persuasive scents of cherry and toasted almond that blend with floral hints and a refined spiciness. Intense but easy-drinking taste development, well assorted in its components, characterised by an elegant persistence.
