LACRYMA CHRISTI BIANCO 'VIGNA VULCANO' VILLA DORA 2021 DESCRIPTION

Lacryma Christi Bianco "Vigna Vulcano" from the Campania winery Villa Dora is a wine produced on the slopes of Vesuvius, in a land characterized by volcanic soils, which has millennia of noble traditions in the production of great wines behind it. It is made from an equal percentage blend of two white grape varieties historically present in the area, Coda di Volpe and Falanghina. It is a very typical white, with a sunny Mediterranean face, fresh aromas of citrus, and fragrant fruit, crossed with a mineral vein reminiscent of the volcanic terroir.

Lacryma Christi Bianco "Vigna Vulcano" is made by a still artisanal-sized estate that is an important reference point for the Vesuvian area. Villa Dora runs an estate under organic farming, set in a landscape and natural context of extraordinary beauty among olive trees and maritime pines. The estate has jealously preserved the old Vesuvian pergola plantings, where the main varieties of the area are grown. Always committed to enhancing native grape varieties, it produces highly expressive wines capable of transferring the mineral and volcanic character of the Vesuvian habitat into the glass. Thus are born labels rich in personality, which is rightfully part of the best expressions of the territory.

Villa Dora's "Vigna Vulcano" Lacryma Christi Bianco is one of the finest expressions of the great whites of the Vesuvian terroir. The vineyards are located in the Terzigno area, on the southeastern slope of the volcano, quite far from the sea. They have an average age of over 30 years and produce particularly rich and intense grapes. After soft pressing with maceration on the skins for a few hours, the must is fermented in temperature-controlled steel vats. Before bottling, the wine matures for a few months in steel tanks. The colour is a bright and luminous light yellow. The bouquet is reminiscent of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, capers, yellow fruit, dried fruit nuances, and hints of flint. The taste is harmonious and mineral, with a pleasantly fruity texture, savoury and balanced finish.
