LAGREIN ALOIS LAGEDER 2021 DESCRIPTION

Alois Lageder’s Lagrein is a label with a strong territorial identity. It is produced with the homonymous autochthonous red grape variety, which is enjoying great success among enthusiasts for its strong character and for a strong and easily recognizable personality. Intense and fruity, it stands out in the panorama of South Tyrolean reds for a dense color and wild shades of undergrowth and spices. The vinification without the use of wood enhances the varietal character, bringing to the fore its pleasant and youthful fragrance. It is an ideal bottle to bring to the table to accompany a plate of game.

This Lagrein is one of the red wines produced by one of the most famous wineries in South Tyrol. The Lageder family has been involved in viticulture for many generations, with the aim of enhancing the vines historically present in the territory. Lagrein has been cultivated in South Tyrol for centuries and is the result of a spontaneous crossing between Teroldego and an unknown variety, most likely related to Syrah. It is a variety that loves a warm and sunny climates, it is not by chance that Alois Lageder has chosen to place the vines in the area of the Conca di Bolzano, in Ora and Magre, on mainly sandy soils of alluvial origin and partly calcareous. The vinification takes place in steel tanks and the wine ages for about 12 months in cement and steel tanks before being placed on the market.

Lagrein red is one of the most distinctive wines of the Alois Lageder Classic line of vines. These are bottles designed to enhance the best characteristics of local varieties. The grapes come from the vineyards of historic growers, who work scrupulously according to the guidelines of the Lageder winery. It is a label that perfectly illustrates the company’s philosophy, proposing a genuine wine with a deep ruby red color, with light purple reflections. Fragrant and rich, it expresses a range of aromas ranging from ripe plum to blackberry, with hints of spices and shady nuances of humus. The attack on the palate is supported by an important tannic texture and juicy and persistent aromas, which extend towards a finish characterized by sensations of soft spices. A great red, which speaks directly of the territory.
