The Riserva "Porphyr" comes from an expert selection of Lagrein, an indigenous grape variety that Cantina Terlano assembles starting from three different plots, where the average age of the vines is around 100 years. Low yields, therefore, make each grape rich in extracts and organoleptic properties, perfect for giving rise to a bouquet marked by intense aromas, the prelude to a compact sip in which structure and elegance move harmoniously. A label that can be drunk now but promises to evolve further for the next five years.
This Lagrein Riserva "Porphyr" comes from the pure use of an important native red grape variety of Alto Adige, Lagrein, cultivated by the Terlano Winery team in three selected vineyards, where the average age of the vines is very high, reaching a hundred years. The berries grow rich and full of properties and extracts and, once harvested during the grape harvest, slowly ferment at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Then comes ageing, in which the wine rests for 18 months in barriques, one-third new.
The red "Porphyr" is a Lagrein Riserva that, in the glass, announces itself with a deep colour reminiscent of ruby hues, crossed by light reflections tending to violet. The olfactory spectrum revolves around layered and rich sensations, starting with fruit and veering towards captivating spicy nuances. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, ample and swathing, rounded thanks to a finely integrated tannic texture, characterized by a flavorful taste, in which the spices already perceived on the nose are rediscovered. A label with which Cantina Terlano delights the palate, earning high marks in Italian and international wine magazines.
