Tormaresca's Cabernet Sauvignon 'Locone' is a red wine from Puglia, produced in the fascinating Castel del Monte appellation. It recounts the geography of the Murge and pays homage to the area's artificial lake, with which it shares its name. On the nose it offers fruity notes of raspberry and wild berries, enhanced by tributaries of Mediterranean scrub leading to a mentholated finish. In the mouth it is soft and enveloping, with elegant tannins and good taste persistence. Excellent with traditional ‘capocollo’ meat, try it with Apulia's ‘bombette’, cheese-filled meatballs
The 'Locone' Tenuta Bocca di Lupo Tormaresca - Antinori is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the Castel del Monte area. Owned by Marchesi Antinori, Tenuta Bocca di Lupo is located in Minervino Murge, Puglia, in a karst terrain suitable for quality viticulture. The estate comprises no less than 130 hectares of vineyards and is part of Tormaresca, an ambitious wine project undertaken by the Antinori family in Apulia in 1998. As for the appellation 'Locone', this derives from the artificial lake of the same name not far from the winery, which over the years has become an important hydrological basin rich in lake flora and fauna.
Tormaresca - Antinori Tenuta Bocca di Lupo 'Locone' is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines planted on poor, calcareous soils. The vines, cultivated according to organic farming principles, then benefit from the altitude between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, a factor that favours considerable temperature excursions. In the cellar, the grapes are first destemmed and then gently crushed, with the mass being conveyed into special wine-making vats for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins at a controlled temperature of 26-28 °C. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the liquid is racked into French oak barriques, containers where complete malolactic fermentation also takes place and where the wine remains to age.
The 'Locone' Tormaresca - Antinori Tenuta Bocca di Lupo has an intense ruby red colour. Pleasant sensations of raspberry and other wild berries emerge from the glass, enhanced by fresh hints of aromatic herbs such as rosemary and mint, all complemented by nuances of fine woods from the passage in oak. Soft and savoury on the palate, at times graceful, with an enveloping tannin that contributes to the excellent taste persistence.
