Lugana Jeroboam "I Frati" is the flagship of the Ca' dei Frati winery. Fully expressive of the characteristics of Turbiana, it offers a fresh, delicate and elegant personality when is young to leave room for more complex and evolved features with the passing of the years, when the notes of green apple and white flowers give way to nuances of apricot and almond. It closes with a marked minerality. Try on this important format!
The Lugana "I Frati" by Ca' dei Frati is the symbol of this winery located near Lake Garda. A wine with two faces: it is appreciated a young for its freshness and simplicity, but it also expresses its best some years after bottling, when it reaches a perfect degree of maturity. With this expression, the famous winery wants to tell its story and its bond with local varieties. Thus "I Frati" is the most representative image of the Lake, it is the pride of the house because Ca' dei Frati has succeeded in making one of the least famous grapes in Italy, with its strong territorial imprint, Turbiana, also known as Trebbiano di Lugana, known and appreciated worldwide.
Ca' dei Frati's Lugana "I Frati" derives from the terroir and the vines, which are up to 40 years old, planted in the lower Garda area, on limestone and clay soils caressed by an ideal microclimate. The cuvée derives from a careful selection of grapes from various plots that, once fermented in steel, and having undergone 80% malolactic fermentation, will be blended to give the final wine its characteristic identity; it is aged for 6 months in steel with the presence of fine yeasts. Its journey ends with further ageing in the bottle for a further 6 months.
The Lugana Ca' dei Frati "I Frati" is a varietal white, straw yellow in colour. Pleasant and able to satisfy desires for immediate freshness and lightness, but also the needs of those seeking an elegant white that can wait a few months in the cellar. As a young wine, it tickles the nose with fragrant floral aromas of white flowers and fruity hints of apple, plum and citrus framed in a mineral whiff. As time progresses, it is enriched with iodine hints, tertiary notes, spices and candied fruit. The palate is fresh, direct and fine, accompanied by a pleasant savoury note. Only evolution will bring out more mineral and balsamic sensations, highlighting a good structure and full, pleasant body. A malleable wine, but with great passion. To be spent on grilled lake fish with vegetable side dishes, on lightly seasoned fish soups or pizza margherita.
