Santa Sofia, a Venetian winery founded in 1811 and custodian of a centuries-old tradition, produces a fresh and fragrant Lugana, encapsulating the essence of Pedemonte, a place kissed by the sun and cradled by cool breezes. This white wine, made solely from Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, embodies the elegance of the Veronese lands and invites to a timeless sensory journey, enriched by a long and slightly almond-like finish.
The vineyards giving life to Lugana Santa Sofia spread over calcareous-dolomitic soils, rich in basalts and volcanic materials, which impart a rich aromatic complexity to the wine. Vinification, involving destemming and soft pressing of the grapes, is followed by maceration for about 10 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature to preserve the freshness and aroma of the Trebbiano di Lugana. Aging then takes place for at least 12 months, partly in 500 L French oak tonneaux and partly in 20-30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, providing the wine with significant structure. Afterwards, the Lugana matures for another three months in the bottle.
Lugana Santa Sofia presents itself in the glass with a relatively intense straw yellow color and bright greenish reflections, foreshadowing an elegant and refined olfactory bouquet.
