MACON BLANC JOSEPH LAFARGE 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Macon Blanc from Domain Joseph Lafarge is a very fresh and approachable Chardonnay from southern Burgundy produced in the Lugny area. In the area around this small village, vine cultivation has very ancient origins, dating back to at least the 12th century, as evidenced by several documents. Among these, those relating to the Lordship of Lugny stand out, in which taxes related to wheat, rye, oats, and indeed wine are mentioned, shared with the religious institutions of Mâcon and Cluny. The only grape variety grown in the area is Chardonnay, a noble white grape variety that generally dominates the entire Mâconnais area.

Domain Joseph Lafarge's Macon Blanc is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in vineyards located in the commune of Lugny, characterized by clay-limestone soils and excellent exposure to the south and southeast. Agronomic management is based on sustainable practices, such as the use of organic fertilizers and the exclusion of chemical pesticides and herbicides. Harvesting is carried out with state-of-the-art mechanical harvesters, while in the cellar, vinification is based on spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks, without contact with the skins. The subsequent aging phase also takes place in steel, and after a few months, the wine is finally bottled.

The Macon Blanc from Domain Joseph Lafarge is a straw yellow color with brilliant golden and greenish hues. Aromas of white peach, green apple, pear, orange zest, and hawthorn describe the olfactory spectrum, accompanied by hints of citrus honey and fresh almond. The taste is dry, round, and medium-bodied, very fresh and lively, with a vibrant saline finish that evokes consistent sensations of summer fruit and almond.
