MACON LUGNY 'CUVEE N.32' JOSEPH LAFARGE 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Macon Lugny ‘Cuvée N.32’ is a rich yet balanced Chardonnay produced by Domain Joseph Lafarge, representing the winery's most prestigious label. The Lafarge family has been dedicated to vine cultivation in the Macon Lugny area since at least the 1700s, with the tradition now in the hands of the tenth generation, represented by Robert and Anthony Lafarge. The Macon-Lugny AOC is a sub-designation of the broader Macon appellation and encompasses a rather confined area located in the heart of the Mâconnais wine region, around Lugny and some nearby municipalities.

The ‘Cuvée N.32’ Domain Joseph Lafarge Macon Lugny is made from pure Chardonnay grapes grown in various vineyards scattered throughout the Lugny territory, cultivated using sustainable agronomic practices. In particular, the vines are between 60 and 70 years old and are planted in clay and limestone-rich soils. Harvesting is done mechanically with modern harvesting machines, and the grapes are then vinified into white wine through gentle pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, without any addition of exogenous sugars. The maturation phase of at least 14 months also takes place in stainless steel before bottling and further aging in glass.

The color of the Macon Lugny ‘Cuvée N.32’ from Domain Joseph Lafarge ranges from pale yellow to golden yellow. The olfactory profile brings ample notes of pineapple, broom, citrus, nutmeg, vanilla, and flint. On the palate, it is quite creamy and of medium structure, with a soft body and a pleasant fresh-sapidity that blend into a persistent finish, highlighted by perceptions of tropical fruit and butter.
