Madeira Sercial Ribeiro 20 YO Barbeito is a wine of great elegance made in Portugal, based on Sercial and Tinta Negra. The nose strikes an apotheosis of warm and intense aromas, from notes of dried fruits and caramel to delicate spicy and smoky nuances due to long aging, while the palate is delicate and very balanced, characterized by a pleasant marine vein that tells of Madeira, its beaches and landscapes
Vinhos Barbeito's Madeira Sercial Ribeiro 20 YO is a fortified wine of long ageing, representing one of the finest in this historic Portuguese winery range. Its evolved and refined character best expresses the richness and aromatic complexity sought after by the finest connoisseurs. Twenty years of maturation in noble wood give a suave nectar that envelops and caresses the palate, leaving a fresh and savoury final sensation. It is a wine that perfectly reflects this small island's temperate, brackish climate lost in the Atlantic Ocean.
The 20 YO is a Madeira Sercial Ribeiro from Vinhos Barbeito, a winery that for more than half a century has dedicated itself to the cultivation of vines and the production of wine in the beautiful natural settings of this island, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco. The cuvée comes from a blend of two important native varieties: Sercial and Tinta Negra. The former is cultivated in the Jardim da Serra area, while the grapes of the latter come from the Câmara de Lobos area. The vineyards are cultivated on the south side of Madeira in beautiful sunny locations at an altitude of approximately 200 metres above sea level. The grapes are vinified with maceration on the skins. Fermentation is stopped by adding alcohol to the must, which allows sugar preservation.
Madeira Vinhos Barbeito Sercial 20 YO, produced by Vinhos Barbeito, is a true excellence dedicated to the great fans of fortified wines, who appreciate its refined elegance above all. In the glass, it has a beautiful golden-yellow colour with luminous greenish reflections. The bouquet expresses all the elegance and complexity of a great Madeira for long ageing. It reveals itself on the nose with scents of citrus peel, vegetal hints of officinal and balsamic herbs, fruity aromas of quince, tropical fruit, delicate notes of spice and dried fruit, accompanied by nuances of caramel and roasting. The entry on the palate is suave, with a complex and multifaceted aromatic palette accompanying a very persistent finish, closing on savoury and fresh notes.
