MEDITERRANEO ANTONIO CAMILLO 2023 DESCRIPTION

The 'Mediterraneo' from Tuscan producer Antonio Camillo is a red wine with a fresh and juicy taste, all played on fluidity and dynamic drinking. This label was born from the peculiar encounter between Ciliegiolo, a traditional Tuscan variety, and Grenache and Carignano, among the most important grapes of the Mediterranean basin, hence the name of the bottle. Indeed, both Grenache and Carignano are found in the main Mediterranean wine-growing areas of Spain, where they are known respectively as Garnacha and Cariñena, and France, where they take the names Grenache Noir and Carignan. Carignano has also been cultivated in Sardinia for centuries, particularly in the Sulcis area.

Antonio Camillo 'Mediterraneo' consists of a blend of Ciliegiolo, Grenache and Carignano grapes, varieties cultivated on clay soil in the Mediterranean climate of the Tuscan Maremma using environmentally friendly agronomic practices. After harvesting, the grapes are transferred to the cellar and vinified in red through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins. This is followed by a maturation period of 6 months in cement containers until final bottling.

Antonio Camillo's "Mediterraneo" red wine appears in the glass with a luminous ruby red colour. The nose is marked by vivid sensations of red fruits such as redcurrants and cherries, accompanied by sweet spicy notes of cinnamon andintense hints of balsamic. As it progresses on the palate, the juicy freshness and well-integrated tannins contribute to the wine's distinctly drinkable character. Thanks to its remarkable smoothness, this red wine can accompany a variety of aperitifs such as assorted crostini or platters of medium-aged cheeses and cold meats.
