Menetou-Salon 'Lune Rouge' Domaine de Loye 2022

The 'Lune Rouge' Menetou-Salon from the French winery Domaine de Loye is an expression of Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley that stands out for its juicy and fruity taste. Founded in 1970 by Jean-Bernard Moindrot, Domaine de Loye comprises 15 hectares of vineyards located in the district of the town of Morogues, with 4 hectares dedicated to Pinot Noir and the remaining 11 occupied by Sauvignon Blanc. Today, the estate is led by Valentin Moindrot, son of Jean-Bernard, who perpetuates the family tradition by embracing the motto "healthy vines ensure quality wine".

The Menetou-Salon Domaine de Loye 'Lune Rouge' is a 100% Pinot Noir from vines grown on well-exposed hillsides consisting of clay-limestone soils. Following the harvest, the grapes are destemmed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins. Even for the subsequent aging phase of several months on fine lees, steel containers are used to enhance the freshness and varietal aromas of the wine, without the use of wood.

Visually, the Pinot Noir Menetou-Salon 'Lune Rouge' from Domaine de Loye exhibits a bright ruby red color. On the nose, immediate and fragrant hints of sour cherry, cherry, and blackcurrant are perceived, accompanied by nuances of black pepper and almond. Surprisingly fresh, graceful, and slender on the palate, characterized by excellent balance and fine tannins, with a finish of great fruity intensity. Although it can withstand a few years of bottle aging, this Pinot Noir is perfect to be consumed young, served cool thanks to its light and delicate style. It is also a wine with excellent versatility, suitable for enjoying as an aperitif or at the table paired with a wide range of dishes.
