Adanti's Montefalco Rosso is an intense and rich wine that comes from a blend of red grapes traditionally grown in the magnificent hillside territory of Montefalco. Aged in wood for a year, it has a smooth and harmonious profile, with a bouquet expressing ripe aromas of red fruit, berries and spices. Medium-bodied and well structured, it has a pleasant drinkability from a young age, thanks to a nice balance between fruity aromas, tannins and final freshness.
Montefalco Rosso wine is produced on the estate of Cantina Adanti, which manages some 30 hectares, divided into various plots, cultivated in the hilly areas near Arquata and Colcimino. To make this label, grapes from several plots located in the territory of the municipality of Bevagna with southeastern exposure and at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level are used. The cool, continental climate and soils of a predominantly clay matrix, with sandy components, proved perfect for red grape varieties such as: Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Manual harvests follow the ripening periods of the various grapes, which are vinified separately. After destemming-crushing, fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28 °C, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks, accompanied by daily pumping-over and délestage. It matures for at least 12 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Cantina Adanti's Montefalco Rosso is a wine that well describes the vocation of the Montefalco area for the production of excellent red wines, not only with pure Sagrantino, but also with interesting blends. The color is intense ruby red tending to garnet. The nose recalls aromas of ripe red fruit, small dark berries, hints of underbrush, spices and woody nuances. On the palate it has a good structure, the sip is pleasantly soft and harmonious, with an evolved tannic texture and a lingering finish.
