Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 'Tralcetto' Zaccagnini 2020

Zaccagnini's 'Tralcetto' is a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva vinified and aged in steel only and then matured for a long time in the bottle. Deep and persistent, it is characterised by the strong fruity aromas it releases, especially of red fruits, combined with more spicy hints of pepper and vanilla and a final touch of leather and tobacco. It pairs perfectly with strong, flavoursome dishes, such as game

MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO RISERVA 'TRALCETTO' ZACCAGNINI 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 'Tralcetto' is a label with a full-bodied and enveloping taste produced by the well-established winery Zaccagnini. This Montepulciano is part of the 'Tralcetto' line, a range of wines presented with a very peculiar packaging, characterized by a small piece of vine shoot tied around the neck of the bottle. These vine shoots come from the pruning of the same Montepulciano vines and are hand-tied by the women of Bolognano, the town where the estate is located. The 'Tralcetto' has become the symbol of Zaccagnini worldwide, and with the new entry represented by the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva, the winery aims to further emphasize this line that has made the brand known in the most important international markets.

Zaccagnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Tralcetto' Riserva is made from only Montepulciano grapes grown on medium-textured clay soils. The harvest is accompanied by careful selection of the grape bunches, which are then destemmed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. After the fermentation process is complete, the wine is aged for about a year in small oak barrels, followed by at least another year of refinement in the bottle before final commercialization.

The 'Tralcetto' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva from Zaccagnini has an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, vivid aromas of ripe fruits and spices such as blackberry, plum, black pepper, and vanilla emerge, combined with complex notes of tobacco and leather. The palate, full and enveloping, reveals a soft tannic texture and a significant structure, with a pleasant freshness to balance it all out. On the finish, the fruity and spicy sensations perceived on the nose return.
