The Muller Thurgau Muri - Gries is a fresh, fragrant white wine produced in Alto Adige. Notes of elderflower, acacia and white-fleshed fruit take center stage on the nose, while the palate is savory, mineral, with a fine, lingering finish. Go with light fish or vegetable dishes!
The Muller Thurgau produced by the Muri - Gries convent winery represents an Alto Adige label with a characteristic fruity and floral aromatic profile. Created in 1882 in Germany by the Swiss botanist Hermann Müller, originally from the canton of Thurgau, Muller-Thurgau is a genetic hybrid resulting from the cross between Riesling and the white grape Madeleine Royale. This variety has long been one of the most popular in all of Germany, used to produce easy-drinking wines, although not of the highest quality. This factor, starting from the 1980s, led to a drastic reduction in consumption and therefore in the vineyard area dedicated to it. However, in more recent times, Muller-Thurgau has been revalued from a quality perspective, also thanks to more accurate cultivation and winemaking techniques that have allowed this grape to find a place in suitable territories, including Alto Adige.
The Muller Thurgau Muri - Gries Südtirol is a 100% Muller-Thurgau from vineyards located in the Appiano area characterized by gravelly limestone soils, positioned at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and exposed to the southeast. After the harvest, the grapes are white vinified through gentle pressing and alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks for one week at a controlled temperature of 19°C, favoring the enhancement of the wine's freshness and aromas. Even for the subsequent aging phase of a few months, steel containers are used, and the wine is finally released onto the market after a short rest in the bottle.
The Südtirol Muller Thurgau from Muri - Gries has a bright straw yellow color with greenish highlights. The aroma is described by inviting hints of white pulp fruit, elderflower, and acacia, enriched by light spicy undertones. The palate, savory and slender, reveals pronounced freshness and a fragrant aromatic finish.
