NEBBIOLO D’ALBA 'I LIONI' DELTETTO 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Nebbiolo d'Alba 'I Lioni' from the Roero Deltetto estate is able to beautifully reveal the fresh and elegant face of Nebbiolo. This label is part of the 'Classic Red Wines' collection, a small selection of interpretations of the indigenous Nebbiolo and Barbera grape varieties made by the Deltetto family from vineyards in the municipalities of Santo Stefano Roero, Castellinaldo and Canale. As for the appellation 'I Lioni', this derives from the nickname by which the Deltettos were traditionally known and from which the small hamlet where the first bottles of Nebbiolo were born, produced in the old family farmhouse.

'I Lioni' Deltetto Nebbiolo d'Alba originates from only Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Roero area without the use of herbicides. Following the harvest, the grapes are placed in stainless steel tanks, containers in which the alcoholic fermentation process takes place with 10 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent ageing period of about 12 months takes place in oak barrels and after a further resting period of a few months in glass, the wine is finally ready for release.

The colour of the Nebbiolo d'Alba Deltetto 'I Lioni' is a soft ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet is described by intense aromas of violets, currants and raspberries, surrounded by spicy hints of clove. The progression on the palate is fresh and at the same time endowed with good alcoholic warmth, with a fine but well-present tannic texture that contributes to the elegant dimension of this Nebbiolo, anticipating the notes of red fruits and spices that emerge on the finish. By virtue of these organoleptic characteristics, Nebbiolo d'Alba 'I Lioni' is a red wine of excellent versatility in food and wine pairings.
