Ascheri's Nebbiolo 'San Giacomo' is a red wine that expresses the territory of Langhe and Roero. It is characterised by a remarkable persistence and a pleasant harmony of spicy and floral aromas, among which violets and roses certainly stand out. To be paired with a fondue or a dish dressed with important sauces
The Nebbiolo 'San Giacomo' from the Piedmontese winery Ascheri is a fragrant and flavorful red wine, a true expression of Langhe. This bottle is produced in the Podere of La Morra and Verduno, a property located between the two municipalities in the Barolo area, one of the three where the Ascheri family's production is distributed. In particular, the name 'San Giacomo' refers to the homonymous Additional Geographic Mention from which the grapes destined for this Nebbiolo originate, located on the northern slope of the municipality of La Morra, right on the border with Verduno.
'San Giacomo' Ascheri Langhe Nebbiolo is derived from at least 85% Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated in the municipality of La Morra on limestone soils consisting of clay marls. The plants also benefit from southwest and southeast exposure and an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level. After harvesting, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation for about 9 days in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins at a temperature of 28°C, followed by a maturation phase of several months in wooden barrels until the final bottling.
In appearance, the Langhe Nebbiolo 'San Giacomo' from Ascheri shows a light ruby red hue with garnet nuances. On the nose, elegant and floral sensations reminiscent of violet and rose petals are perceived, surrounded by hints of red fruits and spicy nuances of cardamom, juniper, and black pepper. Dry, soft, and pleasantly harmonious on the palate, with good freshness and a tasty tannic texture, with a balanced and persistent finish on fruity and floral perceptions consistent with the aroma. The same producer suggests pairing the Langhe Nebbiolo 'San Giacomo' with fondue or dishes from haute cuisine served with red or white sauces.
