The Negroamaro "Masseria Maime "from MarchesiAntinori's Tormaresca winery is an intense red wine on the nose and soft on the palate. Fruity, spicy and floral notes can be detected during the olfactory sensation. On the palate it is elegant and shows a pleasant persistence and balanced tannin
"Masseria Maime" is a red wine characterized by enveloping fruity and spicy aromas, evident from the first sips, soft and velvety thanks to a perfectly crafted tannic structure. It is a label made from an indigenous grape variety that represents the essence of the Salento terroir, Negroamaro, cultivated in vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see, almost blending in with the woods and pine forests that line the Adriatic Sea. Antinori, a high-sounding name in the Italian wine scene, decided to buy the Tormaresca Estate, promoting the great potential of the Apulian terroir, intending to enhance the regional grape varieties by making traditional labels with modern methods. A challenge fully met, as evidenced by "Masseria Maime," where personality combines with pleasantness.
The Tormaresca Antinori winery makes this "Masseria Maime" from pure Negroamaro grapes. The clusters, from vines grown as small trees, are left slightly overripe and are harvested the third week of September; fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28 degrees, and then, after racking, the wine is transferred to French and Hungarian oak barrels, where it remains to age for about 12 months; after bottling, the wine remains in glass to mature for a further year.
"Masseria Maime" is a Negroamaro that manifests itself in the glass with a decidedly intense ruby red colour. The olfactory spectrum recounts mainly fruity notes, interspersed with more spicy references deriving from the maturation in wood. It is full-bodied on the palate, with a slightly savory sip and a perfectly balanced structure, thanks to a soft and well-integrated tannin. A bottle with which Antinori confirms the great vocation of Tenuta Tormaresca, increasingly at the top of Apulian enology.
