NEGROAMARO ROSATO 'GRECÌA' PAOLO LEO 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Negroamaro Rosato ‘Grecìa’ represents a "in pink" interpretation of the Salento territory, notable for its accessibility and pleasantness, produced by the extensive Paolo Leo estate. This winery was founded in 1989 in San Donaci, in the province of Brindisi, within the so-called "Parco del Negroamaro", a park named after this important native grape variety of Puglia and, in particular, of Salento. Here, numerous hectares of vineyards dedicated to Negroamaro extend, from which high-quality red wines as well as rosés are produced.

The Negroamaro ‘Grecìa’ Rosato by Paolo Leo is a pure expression of Negroamaro grapes grown on predominantly clayey soils. The vines are cultivated using the traditional Puglian "alberello" system in the Salento countryside, in the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce. Harvesting is done by hand in the early hours of the morning, generally at the beginning of September. This is followed by destemming of the clusters and then a gentle pressing, with the mass being cooled and conveyed into stainless steel tanks for a brief skin maceration of about 6 hours. Subsequently, the must obtained from the soft pressing undergoes clarification and then is started for alcoholic fermentation in steel at low temperature, in order to enhance the acidity and aromas of the finished wine. The refining phase also takes place in steel tanks, where the wine rests for 6 months before final bottling.

The Negroamaro Rosato ‘Grecìa’ by Paolo Leo has a cherry pink color with bright reflections. On the nose, immediate aromas of red fruits such as raspberry and wild strawberry are perceived, combined with hints of citrus and aromatic herbs. The palate is fresh, smooth, and easy to drink, characterized by consistent returns of crispy red fruits along the finish.
