Domaine Alain Michelot's Nuits-Saint-Georges Vielles Vignes is the label of memory, a true tribute to the heritage of this family estate's venerable vines. It stems from the desire to enhance the oldest Pinot Noir vines, which have long since found the perfect interaction with the terroir and are capable of restoring its most authentic representation. The old vines represent an invaluable posession, because they are the ones that contribute most to defining the style of the wines, which are faithful interpreters of the soils, microclimate and winemaking culture of the region. It is a wine of great charm, harmonious and rich, a splendid interpretation of the unique personality of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Domaine Alain Michelot's Pinot Noir Nuits-Saint-Georges Vielles Vignes comes from a historic property that has been growing vines for four generations in one of the most famous areas of Burgundy. In the communal territory of Nuits-Saint-Georges, there are, in fact, as many as 41 Climats classified as Premier Cru. It is precisely the ancient history of this area, which has been famous for Pinot Noir for centuries, that has given it a heritage of old vines, which produce few clusters but are characterized by perfect balance and remarkable aromatic concentration. The deep roots and large vine stocks allow the old vines to be less sensitive to the climatic trends of the vintages and to produce with regularity and consistent quality. The label comes from a selection of estate plots that are more than 45 years old. The grapes are fermented with maceration on the skins in steel tanks, and the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels.
Domaine Alain Michelot's Nuits-Saint-Georges Vielles Vignes red is a Pinot Noir of great intensity and richness, giving the thrill of faithfully tasting the essence of one of the great terroirs of the wine world. In the goblet, it is rather deep ruby red in color. The olfactory picture is elegant, with fragrant aromas of small berries, hints of vanilla and soft spices. Harmonious and flowing, it expresses an extraordinary balance of taste, with a very fine tannic texture. The finish is long and persistent, accompanied by fresh mineral sensations.
