Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Aux Champs Perdrix" is produced by Domaine Alain Michelot, a family-owned and operated estate with parcels in the communal territories of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Morey-Saint-Denis and Clos Vougeot for several generations. Thanks to a profound knowledge of the minimal facets of the terroir, the domaine is able to offer parcellular vinifications, resulting in labels with a distinct personality, which allow wine lovers to learn in depth about the different characteristics of the various Climats of the Appellation.
"Aux Champs Perdrix" is a Premier Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Alain Michelot made to highlight the characteristics of one of the estate's best parcels. The domaine covers an area of 8 hectares and is composed of a vineyard parcel that has an average age of about 40 years. The vines are trained with high density and low yields per hectare, so that only a few bunches per plant can be obtained, with remarkable aromatic richness. The "Aux Champs Perdrix" vineyard is located in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges commune, toward Vosne-Romanée. It is located in an area characterized by soils composed of limestone marl with the presence of pebbles and silt, which provide an ideal habitat for Pinot Noir. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine rests for 18 months in French oak barrels.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru "Aux Champs Perdrix" wine from Domaine Alain Michelot is a version of Pinot Noir that well represents the more typical character of the area. It is, in fact, an elegant red with good structure. In the goblet it has an intense ruby red color. The olfactory profile recalls shadowy sensations of underbrush, humus, aromas of currants, cherries, wild strawberries, delicately spicy hints, nuances of medicinal herbs and licorice. The palate has dense, rich aromas wrapped in a fine, ripe tannic texture. The sip, harmonious and persistent, accompanies towards a very balanced finish with good freshness. It is a red with good aging potential, ideal to enjoy with roast lamb or small game on the spit.
