'ORANGE ONE' PARASCHOS 2020 DESCRIPTION

Paraschos' Orange One is a mutable and three-dimensional orange wine to which the long contact on the skins lends complexity and richness of nuance. Say Paraschos and you say great artisanal nectars. This is the thought of every wine lover, who once approached these mythological creatures from Collio, is thunderstruck. The trick, paradoxically, is to work without tricks or artifice, so since 2003 nothing but copper and a modest amount of sulfur has been used in the vineyard. In the cellar the same approach is continued, with aging also in amphora and, when necessary, long macerations for white wines. Impossible to remain indifferent to Alexis's wines, which disorient and challenge every conviction. Bottles of the heart!

The white wine Orange One is made from a blend of Friulano, Malvasia Istriana and Ribolla Gialla, from vineyards between 30 and 40 years old located between Gorizia and San Floriano, and resting on the classic local marly clay soil, called Ponka. While no chemical or synthetic products are used in the vineyard, in the cellar alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with maceration on the skins for at least a month. Aging then takes place for 30 months in large oak barrels, with no filtering or addition of sulfur before bottling.

Paraschos Orange One fills the glass with a persuasive golden yellow that veers toward orange. The nose, as per the Paraschos style, engages because it is so direct in its expressiveness, while being broad and detailed: orange marmalade, mix of spices, wild herbs, and toasted nuances that also give the liquid a mouthwatering aspect. The sip is iridescent and dynamic, a perfect fusion of freshness, savoriness and chiseled tannic friction. Long finish that fades to spicy and jammy fruit flavors. Immense!
