PIGATO 'MARENÈ' BIO VIO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Bio Vio's Pigato 'MaRené' is a harmonious, fresh, savoury and fruity white wine that perfectly expresses the best characteristics of the PIgato grape. In the area of the first hinterland of Albenga, this historic white grape variety has found marvellous sunny exposures, a mild and always breezy climate and the gentle breath of sea breezes, which allow it to reach full ripeness with rich and intense aromas. It is a white of great balance, bringing ripe fruit, the nuances of Mediterranean herbs and the saline character of the sea into the glass. It is the perfect wine to pair with the typical dishes of the area's cuisine.

Bio Vio's 'MaRené' wine is a pure Pigato produced by one of the most famous wineries in the Albenga area. Giobatta Vio founded his company in the 1980s and today cultivates around 6 hectares of vines and fields of aromatic and medicinal herbs typical of the Mediterranean area. Always an advocate of sustainable agriculture, he runs the estate under organic farming without using herbicides, pesticides or chemicals. His philosophy is geared towards producing genuine, straightforward wines that speak directly to the characteristics of the grape variety and the magnificent terroir. Attention to the work in the vineyard, the high quality of the grapes and work in the cellar that is very respectful of the varietal characteristics of the grapes leading to the production of wines that are among the most appreciated of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, for their typicality and fidelity to the terroir.

Bio Vio's white Pigato 'MaRené' comes from a 24-hour process of criomaceration of the grapes, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine rests on the lees for 4 months before being bottled. In the glass, it is a brilliant straw-yellow colour. The bouquet expresses aromas of wild herbs from the Mediterranean maquis, citrus fruit, white-fleshed fruit and fresh almonds. On the palate, it is harmonious and intense, with a ripe fruity mouthfeel that accompanies a finish of balanced freshness, closing on pleasantly savoury notes.
