PINOT BIANCO 'PLATT & RIEGL' GIRLAN 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Blanc "Platt & Riegl" from the South Tyrolean winery Girlan is a refined, intense and elegant wine, expressing the most authentic face of a great grape variety, which has always been highly appreciated for the harmony and delicacy of its varietal aromas. This is a label that belongs to the selections line, created to enhance the best vineyards of the estate, vinified separately. The partial ageing in the wood helps to enhance the complexity and aromatic richness of the wine. The classic floral and fruity notes are complemented by evolving sensations of great finesse, making the sip pleasantly long and satisfying.

The "Platt & Riegl" wine is a Pinot Blanc produced by one of the most famous wineries in South Tyrol. Girlan manages a valuable vineyard estate divided into many plots, which are located in the areas of Oltradige and Lower Altesina. The Pinot Blanc grapes come from a few plots selected for the outstanding quality of their production. The Plattenriegl vineyard is located in the area of Cornaiano and Appiano, at an altitude between 450 and 550 meters above sea level, on soils composed of clay, limestone and gravel. At the end of manual harvesting, the clusters are sent to a soft crushing. Half of the must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the other half ferments in large 50-hectoliter oak barrels, also carrying out malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled after 8 months of ageing on the lees in order to enrich it and make it more complex.

"Platt & Riegl" is an interesting version of Pinot Blanc made by Girlan to bring out the best characteristics of the noble Burgundy varietal. In the goblet, it presents itself with a rather intense light yellow colour. The bouquet is very elegant, with notes of citrus, hints of white flowers and aromas of white-fleshed fruit. The palate is very harmonious, with a perfect balance between rich fruit and intense freshness, closing on pleasantly savoury sensations. It is a very ductile white wine at the table, pairing very well with first courses with vegetables, or seafood, main courses of fish with delicate flavours or white meats.
