PINOT BIANCO RISERVA 'ABTEI MURI' MURI - GRIES 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Bianco Riserva 'Abtei Muri' represents abroad and elegant expression of the Pinot Bianco grape variety produced by the South Tyrolean winery-monastery Muri - Gries. It is one of the most important labels produced by this Bolzano-based winery and belongs to the 'Abtei Muri' collection, a line that includes wines of excellence made from grapes from the estate's best vineyards, including those of the single plot located in Appiano Monte that gives rise to this Pinot Bianco.

The Pinot Bianco Muri - Gries Riserva 'Abtei Muri' originates from pure Pinot Bianco grapes from a single vineyard in the Appiano Monte area, cultivated at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level on soils rich in limestone gravel. Following the harvest, the grapes are vinified using the white wine method through gentle pressing and subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must, a process that begins in stainless steel tanks and continues in wooden barrels. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is matured for 16 long months on the fine lees, 70% of the mass in large wooden barrels and the remaining 30% in oak barriques. This is followed by blending and further resting in the bottle before final release.

In the glass, the Pinot Bianco Riserva Muri - Gries 'Abtei Muri' reveals a straw-yellow colour with brilliant golden hues. The colourful olfactory panorama is described by persuasive aromas of ripe white-fleshed fruit, such as apple and pear, flowers and fine spices, with notes of white pepper and lactic hints emerging in the background. The progression on the palate is rich and enveloping, well supported by brilliant freshness and sapid-mineral verve, elements that anticipate the long, elegant finish, in which the fruity and spicy sensations of the nose return.
