PRELIT DAMIJAN PODVERSIC 2020 DESCRIPTION

Damijan Podversic's Prelit is an intense and powerful red, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, extremely welcoming but never complacent. It is not only whites for Damijan Podversic, a true champion of Collio, a pupil of the legendary Josko Gravner but capable of clearly distinguishing himself from the ''master'' with a peculiar and equally multifaceted style. The idea of agriculture is one shared by Josko but also by several local producers, namely not to use chemicals or synthetic substances in the vineyard so as not to compromise the vitality of soil and plants and to harvest strictly when the grapes are fully ripe. To date, there are about 10 hectares under vine, divided between native and allochthonous varieties, the latter, however, having become an integral part of the local tradition and thus capable of giving rise to strongly territorial wines. Damijan's wines are extraordinary as they are available and sunny already in their youth but able to renew themselves with adequate rest in the bottle.

The red Prelit is made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Monte Calvario and Piedimonte vineyards, both of which are characterized by Ponka, or a matrix typical of the Collio area made of marl and sandstone. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic farming are followed, although it would be reductive to describe Damijan's approach to viticulture that involves targeted and necessary interventions without the use of chemicals or synthetic substances. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation and the case of Prelit ageing of 36 months in 20-30 hectoliter barrels, followed by at least 1 year in the bottle, is continued.

The Prelit wine pours into the goblet with its intense ruby colour, edged with garnet reflections. The olfactory impact is rich in nuances ranging from berries, and cocoa, passing through vegetable lashings, spices and much more. The richness of the nose finds confirmation in a sip that conquers by its intensity and harmony, perfectly balanced between its components and very fascinating by virtue of its polished tactility. Introspective.
