The Primitivo "Old Vines" from Morella is a red wine born from old vines and aged for 12 months in oak barrels. A full-bodied, intense wine with deep, spicy hints and fine persistence, smooth and balanced, perfect with red meat and game dishes
Morella's Primitivo "Old Vines" is a wine that comes from afar, from old vines raised with the classic alberello system and located on red soils. The winery, in the person of Gaetano Morella, with the help of his wife Lisa, has always been in search of respect for typicality, looking towards the best cultivation techniques. Nothing new has been invented, just continued to cultivate as the ancestors did. Quality in the vineyard is witnessed through observance of the dictates of biodynamics.
Primitivo "Old Vines" nase from selected grapes from vines located in the vineyard whose name it bears, cru in which the plants reach 80 years of age and yield concentrated fruit with great structure. After manual harvesting, vinification begins with spontaneous fermentation in steel vats with manual punching-down. After pressing through a traditional press, the wine matures in Allier oak barrels for 12 months, which will be followed by a further rest in the bottle for 18 months.
Primitivo "Old Vines" is a wine characterized by a beautiful ruby red colour. The nose expresses an intense array of aromas of ripe red fruit, floral, almost embracing mineral calls from which the fruit comes, spices and tobacco. On the palate, the tannic attack is well balanced by the alcoholic body, and it is powerful, fresh and of really fine persistence. Of note is the harmony the wine expresses in reconciling the structure and complexity typical of a Primitivo with a truly surprising balance. Important, but at the same time vertical, balanced, and never excessive. Patriarch.
