'MACCONE ROSSO 17°' DONATO ANGIULI DESCRIPTION

Donato Angiuli's 'Maccone Rosso 17°' is a bottle that stands out for its vampy Mediterranean warmth capable of enveloping and pampering taste and smell. The 'Maccone' line was launched by Donato Angiuli to group niche wines under the name of his first cellarman, a man of distinct personality and expertise. The labels in this selection come from old vineyards planted with the alberello system that naturally produce fewer grapes but with higher quality. This bottle, whose appellation highlights its important alcoholic strength, is released in very limited quantities only in the best vintages.

Donato Angiuli 'Maccone Rosso 17°' comes from a blend of red grapes grown on clay soils. The vines, grown as small trees, are over 80 years old and therefore produce few grapes of extraordinary concentration. Towards the end of September, the grapes are hand-picked and then transferred to the winery and mashed in stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by 10 days of contact between the must and the skins. Throughout the process, the wine is not subjected to filtration operations.

Donato Angiuli 'Maccone Rosso 17°' has a consistent and impenetrable purple-red colour. The nose expands on fruity perceptions of cherry, black cherry and peach in syrup, followed by hints of liquorice, Mediterranean scrub, pink pepper and cocoa. Imposing and remarkably structured, the palate is equipped with solid, powerful tannins that drive the long, savoury and fruity finish. Because of its dense fullness, this red wine needs to be accompanied by succulent dishes such as beef or lamb stews.
