PROSECCO DI VALDOBBIADENE SUPERIORE EXTRA DRY 'GIUSTINO B' RUGGERI 2023 DESCRIPTION

Ruggeri winery dedicates the label "Giustino B" to the figure of Giustino Bisol, the man who founded the company in 1950 together with his cousin, which would give its name to the new reality. The Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco represents the expression of a family tradition rooted in the territory since the mid-1800s.

The "Giustino B" Prosecco Superiore is produced by Ruggeri winery through the vinification of a majority of Glera variety, including some century-old strains, accompanied by a balance of other typical local white berries enrolled in the production regulations. The grapes come from the best selected parcels within the estate's vineyard, extended on the renowned territory of the hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano: they are the very first foothills of the Dolomites, which face south towards the course of the Piave river and rise to almost 200 meters in altitude. The sandy soils of limestone matrix are often rich in marine fossils from remote eras. The harvest period is usually set in September: the bunches are immediately destemmed in the cellar and gently pressed, from which only the flower must is recovered. The fermentation in steel takes place at a controlled temperature of 16 °C, while the sparkling process takes place in the spring following the harvest: the refermentation in autoclave at low temperature ends with a prolonged stop on the lees for up to 90 days. The residual sugar for the Extra Dry type is around 17 grams per liter.

Ruggeri's Valdobbiadene Superiore Extra Dry "Giustino B" Prosecco has a peculiar straw-yellow color and a very fine effervescence. The aromas are decisive and intense, recalling acacia floral notes and above all a ripe white pulpy fruitiness, with citrus shades of pink grapefruit and lemon zest. The sip is streaked with a marked mineral presence and shows a softness to the yellow peach and apple hints, closing with good persistence. A sparkling wine that is suitable for any toast occasion and appetizers composed of salty finger food.
