Red 'N°4' from the young Italian start-up Feral is a non-alcoholic botanical fermented beverage with aharmonious floral identity. Officially founded in 2023 by the creativity and shared passion for nature that unites Maddalena, Sebastiano and Andrea, Feral offers a unique selection of non-alcoholic fermented beverages, made using a patented process based on lactic fermentation alone, thus completely excluding the development of ethanol. The name 'Feral' was chosen in relation to the English word of the same name meaning 'wild', with particular reference to a plant or animal that has returned to the wild after a period of captivity or domestication. This is intended to symbolise the desire to experiment in a completely free and creative manner that characterises the young people of Feral.
Feral Red 'N°4' is produced from a fermented red beet base consisting of water and red beet juice from concentrate. Following lactic fermentation, the fermented beet is enriched with a series of ingredients such as wild blueberry juice from concentrate and botanical extracts of lavender, juniper berries and chilli pepper. Each ingredient is sourced from growers operating in accordance with organic farming principles.
To the eye, Feral's 'N°4' Rosso shows a dark ruby red hue with purple highlights. On the nose, intense hints of blueberry and juniper alternate with pleasant floral hints culminating in balsamic lavender aromas. The taste is velvety and pleasantly tannic, very juicy thanks to the lively freshness that contributes to the dynamic and flowing finish of great harmony. The guys at Feral suggest pairing Red 'N°4' with risottos, fatty fish and charcuterie, making this non-alcoholic botanical fermented wine a perfect alternative to more classic wines.
