The artisanal winery Ferlat presents its Ribolla Gialla, a white wine with a balanced and smooth taste. Located in Cormons in the province of Gorizia, the Ferlat winery cultivates 7.5 hectares of vineyards and has relied on organic farming for over 20 years, culminating in organic certification in 2017. Today, the young Moreno Ferlat and Federica Tabacchi are at the helm, striving to have as little impact on the environment as possible by avoiding the use of synthetic chemical products and employing techniques such as spontaneous greening, natural mulching and organic fertilisation.
Ferlat Ribolla Gialla is made from the purely processed grape variety of the same name, Ribolla Gialla, whose grapes come from organically certified vineyards. In the winery, the grapes are first destemmed and crushed, with the must macerate for 48 hours and then separated from the marc. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks under the exclusive action of the yeasts naturally present in the grapes and in the cellar environment. The subsequent maturation also takes place in steel tanks, where the wine remains on the fine lees for several months before bottling.
The Ribolla Gialla from Ferlat has a straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. Delicate aromas of apple, citrus fruits, pear and herbs dominate the nose. On the palate, it shows a new mineral vein and an almost spicy freshness, with a direct and very pleasant flavour development. A Friulian white wine with great versatility in food and wine pairings can accompany various starters, first courses or main seafood courses.
