Riesling Dario Coos 2022
Coos Dario

Riesling Dario Coos 2022

Dario Coos's Riesling is a white wine that remains in contact with yeasts for at least 12 months, resulting in an intense, full-bodied, yet fine product. The aromas that distinguish it belong mostly to the sphere of tropical fruits where we find lychee, pineapple and melon, embraced however by more floral hints of chamomile and orange blossom. To be enjoyed with stewed fish, perhaps with accompanying sauces

RIESLING DARIO COOS 2022 DESCRIPTION

With its intensely aromatic character, the Riesling from the Dario Coos estate faithfully expresses the qualities of this famous German grape variety. The Coos family has been producing wine on the hills of Ramandolo, in the northern slopes of the Colli Orientali del Friuli denomination, since the late 19th century. At the dawn of the new millennium, the current winery was officially born from the encounter between the long local tradition and the most advanced techniques and equipment. Today, the estate, which covers about 15 hectares of vineyards, is led by Giovanni Cristofoletto along with a group of friends and partners, united by the desire to highlight the territory of Ramandolo with its oenological excellences.

The Dario Coos Riesling is a pure Riesling from vines cultivated without the use of chemical desiccants and herbicides within a natural amphitheater in Ramandolo. Here, the vines grow on steep terraced hills consisting of the so-called "ponca", a type of soil that consists of alternating marls and sandstones of Eocene origin. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transferred to the cellar and subjected to a delicate whole-cluster pressing, with the resulting must undergoing alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After the fermentation process is complete, the wine is left to rest for over a year in steel tanks in contact with the suspended lees.

Dario Coos Riesling has a pale straw yellow hue with bright greenish glimmers. The aroma offers inviting hints of lychee, melon, lime, orange blossom, and chamomile, accompanied by a mineral undertone. The taste is intense, dry, and full-bodied, with pronounced freshness and delicate salinity that come together in a pleasant aromatic finish.
