Riesling Kabinett Hofberg Superior Josef Milz 2021

Josef Milz's Kabinett Hofberg Superior Riesling is the full expression of the steep slopes of the Central Mosel. Aromatic, fresh and mineral, it is the result of rich slate soils, optimal sun exposure and stainless steel maturation, the key factors for a truly expressive Riesling such as Kabinett Hofberg Superior. This wine is identified by its fruity notes of peach, apricot and green apple, its sweet hints of honey and its floral hints of white flowers, especially wisteria. Suitable as an aperitif with a delicious fish fry

RIESLING KABINETT HOFBERG SUPERIOR JOSEF MILZ 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Riesling Kabinett Hofberg Superior from Weingut Josef Milz impresses with its harmonious balance, a consequence of the Milz family's long tradition of winemaking. With more than 500 years of winemaking history behind it, the Josef Milz winery is a faithful and expert interpreter of the Mosel region, in particular the areas of Trittenheim, the winery's historic home, and Drohner Hofberg, an area within the municipality of Neumagen-Dhron, located less than 5 kilometres north of the town of Treittenheim. It is precisely from the latter area that the grapes for this bottle, labelled 'Superior', are sourced, as in this vintage the wine is characterised by a residual sugar level above the limit allowed to be classified as GG, i.e. Grosses Gewӓchs, the equivalent of the German Grand Cru in dry form.

Hofberg Superior Josef Milz Riesling Kabinett is made from pure Rhine Riesling grapes grown on the reddish soils of the Drohner Hofberg area, which are characterised by a high iron oxide content. Following the harvest, the grapes are transported to the cellar and gently pressed, with the resulting must undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. In the same type of wine containers, the mass is then left to mature for several months until final bottling.

Josef Milz's Riesling Kabinett Hofber Superior has a brilliant straw yellow colour. Sensations of peach, green apple, apricot, citrus peel, acacia honey and wisteria describe the olfactory range along with distinct mineral overtones. The delicate sweetness on the palate is immediately tempered by marked freshness, elements that define a mineral and aromatic development of harmonious momentum and balance, characterised by long persistence.
