Kuenhof's "Kaiton" Riesling is a wine that recalls in its name the old Celtic appellation used to identify the area where the old farm stands. It is definitely a wine to try and to have in the cellar, as Peter Plieger has a coveted and remarkably cult production of bottles. A Riesling of breed!
The vineyards, from which the grapes that will give birth to this wine, are sited on terraces between 550 and 700 meters above sea level. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel containers through native yeasts only. Ageing is planned for a period of several months inside large oak barrels.
Riesling "Kaiton" is golden yellow in colour to the eye. The hydrocarbon sensation on the nose emerges snappily but is immediately taken up by citrus, herbal and spicy notes, denoting a rampant but composed character. Incisive on the palate, with an aromatic and fresh structure. An extraordinary savoriness and minerality counterbalance its nimble and straightforward beva, during which the olfactory notes felt earlier return. A wine of undoubted personality. The screw cap will not be an excuse to store the wine again in a protected place, as it will run out sooner!
Golden yellow
Elegant and delicate, fruity and floral, slight citrus hints
Incisive and direct, but round and clean the extraordinary flavor and minerality
