The cool climate and soils consisting of blue slate stones, which store heat during the day and then return it in the cold nights, allow the Riesling grapes to ripen slowly with excellent aromatic richness. Dr. Loosen's Riesling Mosel Auslese Wehlener Sonnenuhr wine is the result of careful vinification of selected grapes from vines that are over 70 years old. After soft pressing, the flower must ferment in steel tanks, and the wine rests, again in steel, for several months before bottling. In the glass, it is light yellow in colour with brilliant reflections. The bouquet expresses intense and complex aromas, with notes of citrus, peach, yellow fruit, tropical fruit and delicate spices. The sip is harmonious and smooth, with a ripe sweetness of fruit and a sweet sensation well balanced by a savoury and very fresh finish.
