Agricola Mos's Riesling Trentino is a Riesling Renano-based white wine aged ten months in used tonneaux. On the nose it has notes of apple, pear, tropical fruit and slight hydrocarbon hints, while on the palate it is fresh, textural, with good acidity. It has excellent aging potential - after letting it rest a few years in the cellar it can best express its simple elegance
The Riesling Trentino from the Agricola Mos winery is a faithful interpretation of the variety, characterised by typical hints of hydrocarbons that become more pronounced with further ageing in the bottle. The oenology adopted by Luca and Federico of Agricola Mos is aimed at providing authentic and never opulent expressions through non-invasive cellar practices, including low and rational use of sulphites, enhancing the complexity and longevity of the noblest grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Rhine Riesling.
Agricola Mos Riesling Trentino is made using only Riesling Renano grapes from 30-year-old vines grown using the traditional Trentino simple pergola system in Lisignago in the Cembra Valley. In particular, the vines benefit from the porphyritic nature of the soils, the altitude of 520 metres above sea level and the excellent south-westerly exposure. Towards the end of September, when the grapes have developed their characteristic golden colour, manual harvesting is carried out, followed by the classic white vinification of the grapes with direct soft pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak tonneaux, as does 10 months' maturation accompanied by weekly batonnage to keep the fine lees in suspension, increasing the wine's complexity. After at least a further 3 months of bottle ageing, the wine is finally ready for release.
Intense straw yellow with emerald hues is the colour of Agricola Mos's Riesling Trentino. The olfactory range evokes hints of yellow apple, pear, plum, citrus fruits and white flowers, which meet with smoky and hydrocarbon hints on the finish. The palate is balanced between enveloping softness and decisive freshness, with a harmonious mineral closure to complete the taste context.
