ROERO ROSSO 'LE COSTE' ALBERTO OGGERO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Alberto Oggero's Roero Rosso is a pure Nebbiolo that tells a young and compelling story that speaks first and foremost of people, madly in love with a territory. On the right side of the Tanaro River, the undisputed king of Piedmont, it reaches truly exceptional levels of quality, sinking its roots into sandy soils and positively enjoying the natural microclimate.

Alberto Oggero's Roero is made from Nebbiolo grapes all sourced from a single vineyard, called "Le Coste," which stands on the steep hills of Santo Stefano Roero. The quest for quality begins in the vineyard, where treatments are sparingly sprinkled in line with the dictates of organic farming, and continues within the walls of the winery, which Alberto has worked to bring back to life. The clusters are crushed and destemmed, and alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks is triggered by using only the yeasts naturally present on the skins. After racking, it goes into wood, specifically used 500-liter tonneaux, for a period of at least 14 months to be followed by a brief phase of clarification in steel and a long year of stabilization in the bottle.

This Rosso Roero di Alberto represents the Nebbiolo that comes out in the appellation, the fruit of a single vineyard, the one that is a bit more incravattato, that ages in wood and reaches really high levels of territorial expressiveness. Thanks to a long maceration of about 20 days in contact with the skins, with the cap first emerged and then submerged, this red is rich in extraction, color and juice. It immediately exudes vital, energetic aromas of dark-hued fruit, red berries, underbrush and yellow peach, which soon move to cadenced, expressive aromas of earth and refined spices. Rich and generous, a juicy sip that envelops the mouth with drive and character, supported by excellent freshness and tannicity, refreshed here and there by saline breezes that make it unforgettable.
