Abbazia San Giorgio

Rosato 'Cloè' Abbazia San Giorgio 2022

Cloè from Abbazia San Giorgio is a refreshing rosé wine from the island of Pantelleria, aged for 6 months between steel and chestnut wood. With a light ruby red dress it expresses panache and maritime juiciness, between aromas of small red fruits, currants and raspberries, fanned with iodine and sea water, details of fresh caper. It is refreshing and dynamic with a mouthfeel full of savouriness and marine energy

ROSATO 'CLOÈ' ABBAZIA SAN GIORGIO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Abbazia San Giorgio's 'Cloè' is an enjoyable rosé, a true island juice in the glass. We cannot help but notice that some of the artisanal wines that excite us the most come from a small island halfway between Sicily and Africa. It may be the clement climatic conditions, and it may be the composition of the soils, so varied, it may be the enormous expressiveness of the local vines, or probably a mix of all this; the fact is that the Pantelleria terroir occupies a special and almost detached space in the hearts of us drinkers. Battista Belvisi knows the island well, as well as the vineyard, given that for many years he was the cellarman of Gabrio Bini, the creator of what is probably the island's most famous wine. In 2016, he decided to found his own winery, Abbazia San Giorgio, which has just over 3 hectares planted with Zibibbo, Catarratto, Nerello Mascalese and Perricone and cultivated without any artifice or anything reminiscent of chemistry. Pure, uncontaminated, uncompromising expressions

Abbazia San Giorgio's 'Cloè' rosé is made from pure Nerello Mascalese grapes from vineyards resting on volcanic soil. Real liquids that are children of the land, without any filter. In fact, the approach in the vineyard is non-interventionist, also to preserve the integrity of a unique terroir. In the cellar, fermentation occurs spontaneously, with brief maceration on the skins in the case of this rosé, which then matures for 6 months in steel and chestnut wood. No clarification or filtration.

Abbazia San Giorgio's 'Cloè' Rosato has a bewitching colour, a bright ruby that recalls that of precious stones. The nose, variegated and utterly original, wafts notes of pomegranate, sea breeze, Mediterranean scrub and red fruits. The taste follows in the footsteps of the nose, that is to say, it faithfully recounts the island in a sensual embrace between freshness and salt, the latter being responsible for considerably lengthening the persistence. A journey without moving.
