'ROSPIC' MATTEO RIGONI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Matteo Rigoni's 'Rospic' is a Bordeaux-style blend with a genuine soul, born on the Colli Berici from a sincerely artisanal production vision. Behind this label lies Matteo's choice to decisively focus on international grape varieties, which, according to the producer's experience, allow for greater expression of the terroir than traditional varieties from the Vicenza region, thus enhancing the characteristics of the terroir. For this reason, at the time of new plantings, Matteo's choice fell on varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, cultivated by the winemaker with a sincere respect for environmental health.

Matteo Rigoni's 'Rospic' is produced through a blend of Bordeaux-origin grapes: Merlot (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), and Cabernet Franc (10%), all varieties grown under certified organic conditions in the municipality of Val Liona, on the Colli Berici, precisely in the Giacomelli locality. The vines are about 20 years old and grow on iron-rich soils at an altitude ranging from 180 to 200 meters above sea level, with southwest exposure. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes are then destemmed and subsequently crushed in 750-liter clay amphorae for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 18 days of maceration on the skins. After the fermentation process, the wine is aged for one month in steel tanks and then for about 10 months in amphorae until the final bottling. Throughout the entire process, clarification or filtration operations are excluded.

Matteo Rigoni's 'Rospic' presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, vivid and complex aromas of blackberry, plum, olives, wet earth, and cloves emerge. The palate, intense and enveloping, is defined by dynamic freshness and firm tannins, as well as a dry and fruity finish.
