3/4 Red Sa Defenza 2021

 The Rosso '3/4' from the family-run Sardinian winery Sa Defenza is a bottle with an evocative fruity and Mediterranean aromatic profile, the result of an artisanal production approach. Within the 12 hectares of estate vineyards, the brothers Pietro, Paolo and Anna cultivate mainly the traditional varieties Vermentino, Semidano, Nuragus and Moscato among the white grapes, Cannonau, Bovale and Barbera Sarda among the black varieties, according to highly sustainable viticulture that includes spontaneous grassing of the rows.

The '3/4' Rosso Sa Defenza consists of a rich blend of red grapes grown sustainably without the use of synthetic chemicals. The vines stand on mainly clayey soils located at an altitude of approximately 150 metres above sea level with full southern exposure. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are vinified in red in stainless steel tanks through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation operated solely by indigenous yeasts and associated with approximately 10 days of contact between the must and the skins. Throughout the entire process, the mass then undergoes no filtration.

To the eye, Sa Defenza Rosso '3/4' reveals an intense ruby red colour with purple hints. Vivid fruity aromas of cherry, berries and blackberry follow one another on the nose, enriched by balsamic hints and pleasant sensations of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is warm and fresh at the same time, with a vibrant and savoury development that makes the beva juicy and very thirst-quenching. Rosso '3/4' is a wine designed for everyday life, which can be paired with convivial foods such as pizza, hamburgers and platters of cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
