Rosso 'Carcare' Filippo Brancati 2021

Carcare Rosso is a Calabrian red wine that takes its name from the place where it is produced, characterized by calcareous and clayey soil. It is aged in steel for at least one year and briefly refined in tonneaux. Aromas of blueberry, morello cherry, parched earth, sweet and spicy spices, aromatic herbs and marine-vegetable side dishes spread from a rich and extractive body, with marked freshness and silky tannins

ROSSO 'CARCARE' FILIPPO BRANCATI 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Rosso 'Carcare' from the Calabrian winery Filippo Brancati is a wine that expresses the territory's character very well and highlights the craftsmanship of a passionate winemaker. It is, in fact, a small company that has always worked to make known the special characteristics of the territory of the Palizzi coast. Fragrant and Mediterranean is a fascinating red wine that brings out the varietal personality of the grapes and the savoury and iodine-rich marine aromas, typical of a wine with a Mediterranean feel.

Filippo Brancati's 'Carcare' Rosso sees the light of day on a farm estate splendidly overlooking the sea in Jannacci, near Palizzi. True to the customs of the land, he cultivates both native and international grapes, producing wines that well illustrate the Calabrian terroir. The Nerello vineyards are organically farmed, with the utmost respect for the environment, and are located in the southern area of the Ionian coast, on terraces facing east and northeast at an altitude of around 250 metres above sea level. Manual harvesting takes place in mid-September, and the best grapes are sent to fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18-20 °C, with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks and periodic pumping over. The wine matures for 12 months in steel tanks, for 2 months in tonneaux and completes its ageing with a few months in the bottle.

The Rosso 'Carcare' Filippo Brancati 2019 is an interesting interpretation of one of our south's most elegant red grape varieties. Nerello gives a medium-structured red wine with refined aromas, much loved by aficionados who prefer finesse to power and concentration. In the glass it is purple-red and expresses a bouquet characterised by aromas of small berries, currants, blueberries, morello cherries, hints of spice and nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean maquis. The palate is clear and flowing, with intense aromas and a mature, fine tannic texture. The finish is fresh, long and savoury.
