The Rosso "di Gino," produced by Fattoria San Lorenzo, is a splendid interpretation of the classic Marche wine made from the two red grape varieties typical of the area: Montepulciano, which gives structure and fruity richness, and Sangiovese, which gives freshness and elegance. The choice of vinification and refinement without the use of wood allows the varietal characteristics of excellent quality grapes from particularly well-suited plots on the estate to be preserved and highlighted above all. This a confirmation of the quality of one of the most highly rated wineries in the Marche region.
"di Gino" is a Rosso from Fattoria San Lorenzo, a winery based in Montecarotto that manages its vineyards with maniacal care, following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Founded only in the mid-1990s, it actually draws on the experience of many generations of winemakers. Precisely because of its deep knowledge of the terroir, it is able to make great wines that have retained a classic and elegant style, far removed from passing fads. The cuvée is the fruit of Montepulciano and Sangiovese vines that are about 35 years old and are cultivated at an altitude of 250 to 300 meters above sea level, with a sunny exposure facing south, which favours excellent ripening. At the end of the harvest, the best clusters are sent to spontaneous fermentation with only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks at an initial temperature of 35 °C, which is then decreased to 25 °C, with classic maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. Before bottling, the wine is aged for 12 months on fine lees in concrete tanks.
Rosso "di Gino" expresses very well the style of Fattoria San Lorenzo, which has always been known for producing direct and straightforward wines, made without oenological mediations, with the sole objective of highlighting the quality of the grapes and the character of a great terroir. A beautiful dark ruby red colour with luminous highlights, it expresses a remarkable aromatic richness on the nose, with notes of ripe fruit, cherry, wild blackberry, currant, hints of underbrush, humus, blond tobacco and medicinal herbs. Flowing and pleasantly fragrant, it wins you over with a harmonious, rich, balanced sip with tannins well integrated with a well-structured body. The closure is of pleasant freshness and persistence.
